Left arm fast bowler Lewis Hatchett has signed a three-year professional contract with Sussex County Cricket Club.
The 20-year-old seamer burst into first team plans at the county when he took 6-92 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807 last season in only his second county championship match.
"To go from being nowhere near the side last season, to making my first-class debut and signing a contract has been amazing. It was now or never for me. Now I'm determined to work hard to secure myself
a regular place in the side," said Hatchett.
The club can draw a lot of positives from this news because Hatchett is a quality player. The real test for the player will be doing enough to start in the side for the beginning of the 2011 season.
A quality player
Hatchett has been praised for his raw pace and aggression as a fast bowler. He can touch 90 miles per hour regularly and also gets the ball to move through the air. This makes him an attacking weapon because
not many players can bowl as quickly.
He can also move the ball either way off of the seam. This makes him very difficult to play against in England where bowler friendly conditions often appear. With the retirement of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Kirtley-c1648, there
is now a chance for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367 bowler to lead the Sussex attack.
The county and the player can now fully commit to each other. Coaches can get to work on improving the player and Hatchett can enjoy all of the security that comes with a professional deal. The contract
will allow him to focus on nothing but bowling well.
"He's an exciting prospect, a left-armer who swings the ball and he's destined for a long and successful career," added Sussex coach Mark Davis.
Betting advice
Hatchett is a well respected young player. He has the ability to make the ball sing and this makes him a great bet to take five wickets in any format of the game. Watch how he starts next season and back
him if he starts to pick up wickets regularly.
