Schalke saw the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 at the end of last season as the Spaniard joined Qatari club Al Sadd. The Royal Blues are now looking for an able replacement for the former Real Madrid player for next season and the likes of
Holtby and Julian Draxler are tipped for a role behind the striker.
Holtby claimed that the league will be even tougher next season with many teams having strengthened their squads. He admitted that his side will have to win crucial games against the likes of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and
Bayer Leverkusen if they need a good result at the end of the campaign.
The midfielder is hopeful that the team will live up to expectations in the upcoming season and is sure that the players will perform at their level best to achieve the goals.
“The first thing I'd say is that the whole team has to stay fit for the entire season. The other point is that we have to win the big games against Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen and whoever else,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the German Under-21 international added that the team has to perform well in Europe’s premier club competition as well. He admitted that an impressive showing in the Champions League will give the players more
confidence at the highest level.
“We have to stay in top form, especially with the Champions League to think about too. I think that's a recipe for winning titles,” he concluded.
Schalke will kick start the proceedings to the new season with the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hannover-96-c39492 at the AWD Arena on Sunday, August 26. The side will be looking to better the third place finish last term.
