Lewis eager to chase for the title this year
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is just 21 points short of the championship leader Fernando Alonso after a dramatic 2nd place finish at the Korean Grand Prix. Both of the Red Bull drivers retired out of the Grand Prix enabling Fernando Alonso and
Lewis Hamilton to gain the most advantage in terms of points.
Lewis believes that he has an advantage over his rivals as he is chasing the title from a comfortable position and since he has gained momentum after the Korean Grand Prix, the British driver is enjoying planning this chase with his team.
“We are excited, we have everything to gain and not too much to lose. Generally in any sport and even in football if you are running up the field and you have the ball, its worse being chased than it is to chase,” Lewis said to a media correspondent.
The Formula 1 season will continue at the Brazilian Grand Prix at the legendary track Interlagos this weekend. The Brazilian Grand Prix will play a huge role in the climax of this dramatic season.
With five drivers still in the chase for the title mathematically, it is nearly impossible for the defending world champion Jenson Button to win the title now as he is in 5th place and 42 points behind the championship leader Fernando Alonso.
Mark Webber lost his lead at the Korean Grand Prix after going through a retirement. The Australian driver is currently in 2nd place just 11 points behind the Spaniard while his teammate is in fourth place, 25 points behind the leader.
However, Lewis Hamilton is optimistic about winning the title after he finished in 2nd place at the Korean Grand Prix.
“I'm going into these last two to give it my all and I do believe I can win it. If I didn't then I shouldn't be sitting here, I'd be at home sitting with my legs up. My team is aware that I never give up and I feel that transcends through the whole team.
We are still in the fight for the last two races. It's still possible,” added Hamilton.
The British driver thanked fans for the support and love they have given him this year even though he made some unexpected moves at the Italian and Singapore Grand Prix.
“The support that I've had is incredible. They can never know just how much I appreciate it. I'm out there giving it all. I know I've had some odd races and not the best results but that's life, we all make mistakes,” he said.
