Lewis versus Taylor: another David versus Goliath!
As long as darts have been brought up on the table of sports or there has been any discussion regarding the game, the rivalry between Adrian ‘The Jackpot’ Lewis and Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor has never gone out of words.
This clash of the titans has gone amazingly serious and is considered as a worthwhile discussion in the darts news.
It is a big deal these days as people are betting all over to determine that their own personal favorite, out of the two, is going to be victorious.
Comparison always spoils the beauty of any two entities being compared. The same is with these two darts world giants. Both of them have acquired enough skill and experience that they are the rulers of the current generation of darts.
As they say, one has to separate black from white. Well, that is exactly what will clarify the stronger contender in Premier League Darts.
Adrian Lewis, nicknamed ‘The Jackpot’, started off his professional career in 2003, when he was only 18. At this age, he won the 2003 British Teenage Open and shocked the world.
Later, after participating in the 2003 Winmau World Masters, he joined the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).
His television debut took place at the 2004 UK Open, where he performed well, yet lost in his final match against Dennis Harbour.
Later, he went on to beat the former world champion Richie Burnett at the 2004 World Grand Prix that rocked the world.
In 2006, Lewis made his PDC World Championship debut. This was the turning point of his career, as his performance and his creativity were hitting high notes.
He went on to reach the quarter finals of the championship but lost against Peter Manley in a controversial match.
In May of 2006, he got to the final of World Series of Darts, which was televised on ESPN. In the final, he lost to none other than Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor.
Glory came to Lewis in the 2010 World Grand Prix semi final, when he defeated Taylor for the first time. This was a benchmark in his career, as Taylor was world number one. He, later on, lost the final to James Wade.
2011 was the year when Lewis won the PDC World Darts Championship and at the age of just 25, he became the fifth youngest player to win a world championship.
Moreover, he was the first player to throw a nine dart finish in the final. Later that year, he successfully defended his World Championship and became the third player ever to successfully defend his title.
Power, is the word that is used for Phil Taylor. Just like his nickname, this man stands tall and stands alone in his kingdom. He rules the world of professional darts and is the world’s best darts player who has ever lived.
Taylor is the undisputed king of Premiere League Darts. He is a five-time Premier League Champion and there is no one even close to his overall achievements.
His play is classy and incomparable. His presence during play overpowers his opponent in the match, watching him do what he does best.
Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor has won more than 150 professional tournaments and an astonishing 15 World Championships, which is a record that speaks for itself.
His rivals have been torn down, dart by dart, in numerous matches and their helplessness is clearly visible.
As far as the faceoff between Lewis and Taylor at the Premier League Darts is concerned, Lewis is another victim of Taylor’s appetite for victory and unparalleled domination.
