Question:

Lexapro and Dry Eyes?

Just over a week ago I was prescribed Lexapro. 2 nights ago my left eye started to really hurt as though there was something in it. Its still really painful today. I did get some drops for dry eyes in the Chemist today but they only give relief for a short time. Has anyone used Lexapro and had similar happen to them?

  1. I do not see dry eye as listed as a usual side effect of Lexapro. But, some people I know do have dry mouth and dry eye when they change or start new meds until their body gets use to it. I would suggest taking flax seed oil capsules (They will help keep your tears oily so they do not evaporate!)  and using something for severe dry eye before you go to bed and during the day when you think of it. Call your Doctor and ask if they have heard of this being a problem and ask what they would suggest. Good luck!
