Lexapro withdraw question

I have taken Lexapro (10mg) for 3 days now and I hate it, it is giving me horrible anxiety so bad I had to call in to work today. It is also making me feel depressed. I am taking it for anxiety and I feel like it is making it worse. I have only taken it for 3 days do you think I could just stop taking it without any negative side effects?

  1. That is normal.  When I went on it I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin and I couldn't sit still at work.  Please ask your doctor before doing anything though - that will help you.  Also, you will get a splitting headache often times from going off that med.

  2. I've been taking Lexapro (also 10 mg) for over a year and a half.  If you've only been taking it for three days, it probably wouldn't hurt you too bad if you stopped.  Lexapro is a medication that takes several weeks before it reaches it's full potency.  It takes that long for your system to become acclimated to it.

I would talk with your doctor first - you might suggest cutting back to 5 mg for a couple weeks or so and work your way up to 10 mg.

Lexapro has worked very well for me - I hope it works as well for you.

Best of Luck to you :-)

    Paul.

One more thing - When I first started taking the Lexapro, they had me taking it in the morning.  That made me feel very drowsy and in a fog.  The doctor had me switch it to the evening - and that works a lot better.  I've also since then been taking Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning - that has helped me to be more active.

  3. would depend if 10mg is a lot or not.  If you are worried about it, cut the pills in half for tomorrow, and then in 1/4 the next day.  But call the Doctor right away..../
