Lexi's brother, Nicholas Thompson, set for Dubai Desert Classic
Nicholas Thompson is planning to follow his sibling’s winning streak at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, from Thursday, February 9, 2012.
This is one of the leading tournaments of the European Tour and is played every year. The most attractive part of this event is the appearance of the top leading golfers.
“It will be my first visit to Dubai, but my dad and Alexis keep talking highly of Dubai and they might even come and watch me play. From the entry list I can make out the tournament has (again) attracted a very strong field and it will be fun to be part
of the line-up,” Thompson said.
Thompson, a 29-year-old American professional golfer, is the brother of world famous player, Alexis Thompson.
He has only won one title in the past, at the Nationwide Tour, and wants to be like his sister in future.
He earned his PGA Tour card for the first time in 2008 by winning the HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship in 2007 successfully.
However, Thompson is facing a tough time due to increased competition at the tournaments.
He turned professional in 2005. Since then, he has been looking forward to winning at the European Tour and at the Professional Golf Association Tour as well. However, the glory at both is yet to be achieved.
He will be showing his appearance in Dubai and will be competing to win the prize money out of the $2.5 million purse.
He belongs to a golfing family. His sister is the world's famous player, whereas his brother is a top-ranked amateur golfer as well.
Alexis mostly plays at the LPGA and Ladies European Tour events and is renowned for her glories since a very young age. She is also honoured as the youngest professional winner at both LET and LPGA.
This will be the 23rd episode of the Dubai Desert Classic. Nicholas needs to be amazing on the course, as there will be world leaders in the field.
The winner will earn a handsome amount of money, which will further support the figures of the Race to Dubai title.
Thompson has to adopt some key golfing skills from his family before teeing off in Dubai. His family is competent enough to guide and train him.
His debut appearance in Dubai will matter considerably. If he performs well on the course, he is expected to improve his ranking and his family will surely be proud of him.
