Lexi Thompson disappoints fans at the Evian Masters
Lexi Thompson failed to make the cut at the ongoing Evian Masters. This is surprising news for the fans and experts alike, who were very sure of great golf from the rising American golfer.
Even before the tournament began, Thompson was among the few young players who were pegged as a serious challenge to all the players in the tournament.
What happened with Lexi Thompson and her performance?
Many fans saw her hit a bogey on the very first hole of the first round. This was completely ignored by the fans but experts took it as the sign of worse things to come. Many immediately said that Thompson’s chances look bleak.
Thompson shot three birdies in the first round. This was taken as a positive sign by the fans, who overlooked her five bogeys. This miserable performance was the starting point of Thompson’s decline on the scoreboard.
The second round was a similar story with another set of four bogeys. This was enough to shoot her score to a cumulative 149. The cut was announced at 146 and Lexi Thompson was out of the tournament.

In fact, the list of those who failed to make the cut is full of surprises. One name is that of the English golfer Melissa Reid, who made headlines with her emotion laden win at the Prague Masters. She scored 149 points. Last but not least, Caroline Masson
was also there with a score of 150.
Other names were Sharmila Nicollet and Sophie Gustafson who were also marked as favourites by fans and experts.
For Lexi Thompson, missing the cut at a critical tournament does not bode well. She will slip down the rankings and her position on the money list will not get any better. This could seriously affect her chances and could harm her career.
Still, fans are hopeful about Lexi Thompson performing better in the coming tournaments. She appears to have learnt her lesson and will strive for a win later this year.
