Lexi Thompson grabs early lead in second round of Omega Dubai Ladies Masters: Live Leaderboard
16-year-old Alexis “Lexi” Thompson stunned the rest of the field in the second round of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, pulling in an unblemished five-under so far through the halfway mark of the concluding event on the Ladies European Tour. She is now leading
the tournament and is still playing for her three remaining holes on the 36-hole stretch. The young American is seven-under on the aggregate, staying clear of the early morning leader Sophie Gustafson.
Sweden’s Gustafson pulled in a glamorous blemish-free round of five-under, 67 on the second day of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters to grab the halfway lead in the tournament earlier in the day, finishing for an aggregate of six-under for the moment. She is
now pitched at the second spot for the moment, sharing the spot along with two other players, Italian Margherita Rigon and countrywoman Louise Larsson. Carding birdies on regular intervals, Gustafson did not drop a single shot throughout the day and moved
in to claim the early lead when overnight leader Lotta Wahlin failed to maintain her lead.
“I was striking the ball really well.  So it feels good. My ball striking has been pretty similar, at least today's, but I didn't hole any yesterday, and I holed a couple today, but I left putts out there.” said Gustafson. “It is pretty good, because I was
actually hitting the ball awful on Tuesday during the Pro Am, but the Swedish coaches that are here this week from the Swedish Golf Federation helped me find my ball striking.”
Further down the leaderboard, two players, Paraguayan Julieta Granada and Becky Morgan of Wales are poised at joint fifth while Morgan is still playing for the last two holes of the stretch. Five top-ranking LET and LPGA players are resting at joint seventh
including the Turkish Airlines Open winner, Christel Boeljon,  American Michelle Wie, Swede Pernilla Lindberg, Finnish Minea Blomqvist, and Becky Brewerton of Wales, all having an aggregate score of four-under so far.
England’s Melissa Reid had probably the worst day when no less than three of her birdie putts refused to sink as the ball lipped out of the holes. She is now resting at joint 27th with second round score of one-under, 71.
