Lexi Thompson hopes to do her best at Virginia
American Lexi Thompson has decided not to lose her nerve when she comes face-to-face against her archrivals at the coming Kingsmill Championship. The event is scheduled to be played from September 6-9 at Williamsburg, Virginia, United States.
Thompson is one of the key contenders in the Kingsmill Championship field, but it remains to be seen how the American star fares against rivals, when she tees off her first round on Thursday.
Speaking to the media during her pre-tournament interview with the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, Thompson said that she is more than happy that she has found another good chance to prove her mettle and regain her lost form.
When asked how she will fare against rivals, the rising star said that she has made a solid plan for the prestigious tournament, and holding her nerve is the key to victory.
She said that in addition to training hard on the practice range, she had been taking keen interest in off-course activities like Busch Gardens.
Thompson pointed out that the course will also play a pivotal role in making the Kingsmill Championship a success.
“I've heard a lot of great things about the event, just run so well and they have a lot of activities off the golf course, going to Busch Gardens and everything".
"I hear a lot of fans come out and I've gotten to interact with a few of them already. The course is in great shape, a little wet, but it's playing pretty hard, so definitely a little longer,” the LPGA titan said.
Thompson said that the current season has been a little hectic for her, as she been extremely busy participating in different tournaments.
She hoped that the experience gained from the tough routine will help her keep the momentum going in the coming events as well.
“Just playing a lot more, back‑to‑back weeks and just groups of events. This is a three‑week stretch for me,” the American golfer said. She went on to say that since she is used to playing a tight schedule, her game has improved a great deal lately and she feels she can do her best this time.
Thompson has been seeking to record her second LPGA victory since she won the Navistar LPGA Classic in September 2011.
