Lexi Thompson looks set to take on rivals at LPGA Championship 2012
American Lexi Thompson is ready to take on big stars at the second major event of the season, Wegmans LPGA Championship 2012, as she has vowed to to play a much better game this year.
The tournament is set to start from June 7 and go on till June 10, at Locust Hill Country Club, Pittsford, New York, with a strong field featuring most of the top-ranked LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)
stars.
Speaking to the media about what she is planning to do at the major tournament, Thompson said that she is seeking to play a different game this year, as she regrets not living up to the expectations of her
fans in the last edition of the LPGA Championship.
The American star added that since the Championship is one of the prestigious events of the LPGA, players usually try to display their level best. She said that she realises how her fans reacted after she played
a worse-than-expected game last year.
“It's great to play in an LPGA championship. It definitely didn't go the way I want it to go last year. But this year is a new year and hopefully do a lot better,” Thompson said and added that she has always
liked Locust Hill Country Club, which is likely to help her make good strokes.
The 17-year-old golfer said that she appreciates her fans’ feedback, and this is what has always kept her in high spirits. She went on to say that she likes to get in touch with her followers and fans via social
media, as it helps her take their suggestions in a better way.
“I think that's a brilliant idea, just to get social networking out. You get to stay in touch with your fans. So you know, you let fans know and it's great to interact with them,” the young prodigy said.
When asked how she invited military members to her prom through social media, Thompson said:
“It went great. I had a lot of fun. It was an honor for me to take a guy like Mark Scott to the prom. Anybody that signed up that's in the military or the service, you know, is a great person”.
