Lexi Thompson moves up one place in world rankings
American Lexi Thompson appears to have improved her game recently, as she saw a one-place increase in her position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Thompson is considered as one of the star performers in women’s golf, but she has been having trouble getting back on track. Now, after the third major event of the 2012 season, the US Women’s Open, the American star appears to be moving ahead.
Thompson has played well in the last few tournaments, which has helped her boost her position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings. The young prodigy now stands firm at 22nd — something that reflects the star golfer is keen to make head way and regain her lost momentum.
Analysts said that the rising star has been enjoying her game lately because since she won her last LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) title at the Dubai Ladies Masters in December 2011, she has been facing a number of issues in her putting and swing.
Thompson, who comes across as confident on the course, has been concerned about her putting. She recently got in touch with Dave Stockton and Jim McLean, who helped her fix flaws in her strokes.
Speaking to the media about how she has improved her putting lately, the LPGA titan said that she is glad she has been able to improve her game, which became possible after she concentrated on her putting.
“I worked with Dave Stockton and Jim McLean on my putting. Just you know, putting is pretty much all about confidence and just trusting your line and putting a good stroke on it, because you just have to put a good stroke on it,” she said.
Thompson went on to say that she is now able to control her nerve because mental strength is what keeps a player in contention.
“If it doesn't go in you can't do anything about it. It's pretty much on the mental mindset and a few technical things in my stroke and set up”.
The ambitious star added that she has been confident about her strokes, this is why she never go for big changes. “Just little things instead of just changing big things in my grip or setup that I was doing at the Kraft”.
