Lexi Thompson optimistic about title defense in Dubai
The American golf professional Lexi Thompson is gearing up for a showdown in Dubai to defend her title. The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012 will be a host to the top female golfers on the Ladies European Tour.
The American is one of the biggest rising stars on the golf tour. She has made a big name for herself by giving a tough time to the best in the business.
Thompson usually plays on the Ladies Professional golf Association Tour, but with a magnificent display of golf on the Ladies European Tour, she has made her place on the tour as well.
Last year, the 17-year-old won the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and is this year’s top contender for the title.
The American golfer had a disappointing year so far. She has not been able to reproduce the same level of play that got her all the attention last year.
The teenager took part in four European Tour tournaments this year and has not been able to clinch a single title.
Thompson is aware of the fact that she has the top players of the European Tour to spoil her party. The American is still highly confident about putting up a match winning show on the Majlis course.
The Englishwoman Laura Davies, the German professional golfer Caroline Masson, Michelle Wie and the Spaniard Carlota Ciganda will also be a present in the tournament and will be on the run to make life miserable for Thompson on the course.
The young American golfer has to come up with an extraordinary display of golf in order to threaten the other participants.
The Spaniard, Ciganda said that she is satisfied with the way she has played throughout the year. She added that a win in Dubai will put a great end to her year.
Ciganda in a statement prior to the Dubai-based tournament said,
“I just like to think about playing golf and playing on the course and if you give it 100 percent when you are on the course, I think the result is going to be good and if you play good, you're going to be at the top”.
