Lexi Thompson says Navistar LPGA Classic "stands out" to her
American Lexi Thompson may have made up her mind about ending her lacklustre form in the upcoming Kingsmill Championship 2012, but the Navistar LPGA Classic 2012 seems to have grabbed her attention more than
any event on LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour.
Thompson, who is looking to get back to her old form that has seen her record some stunning finishes since turning pro since 2010, is expected to find form in coming weeks.
Although the American star has vowed to do her best at the Kingsmill Championship 2012, she has already set sights on the Navistar LPGA Classic, as she has plenty of good memories about the tournament.
She won her first professional title at the 2011 edition of the said tournament, rising to prominence in a sport awash with dozens of talented players.
She has played the Navistar LPGA Classic before, but the coming edition means a lot to her as she has been dealing with grim form. Her performance in the last two events has been dismal as she missed the cut
in the Safeway Classic 2012 and the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 held last week at the Vancouver Golf Club.
Speaking to the media about what she plans to do when she comes face-to-face against rivals at her most favourite tournament, Thompson said that she is very confident and in high spirits as Navistar LPGA Classic
is the tournament that has been on her mind since the start of the current season.
Sharing her thoughts, she said that she has performed well in plenty of tournaments but playing at Navistar is going to give her new vigour.
“I look forward to every (tournament), but obviously that one stands out to me,” Thompson said. “It has for a while, since I played in it when I was 14. The course always sets up well for me. I get to hit a
lot of drivers and take advantage of my distance. It sets up well for my eye and my game. It’s always in perfect shape for all of us”.
Thompson might have had enough experience of the field and course, but she will have to be extra careful, given her shaky form in the last few tournaments.
