Lexi Thompson secures the 10th place finish in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters has come to an end. The defending champion, Lexi Thompson, was dethroned by the Chinese golf professional, Shanshan Feng.
The defending champion put up a decent performance throughout the tournament but it was not brilliant enough to put her in the same league as that of the eventual winner of the tournament, Feng.
The American teenager, Thompson played her first two rounds of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters better than the last two that she played. She carded three-under 69 in her first round and a four-under 68 in the second.
The last two rounds were a different story for the American, as she just managed to card a par 72 in the third round and a two-under 70 in the last.
The Omega Dubai Ladies tournament included a star studded field. Two American professional golfers, Thompson and Michelle Wie were poised to make a mark on the field as the tournament progressed.
However, as the tournament went on, the Chinese golfer, Feng, stretched her lead way beyond the grasp of the other players on the tour.
Thompson won the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters tournament in 2011. She got hold of the title due to an excellent show on the fairways of the Majlis course.
The American added a top-ten finish to her season. Although she has not won a single tournament this year, has managed to make a major impact on every tournament she has played.
Thompson is becoming a recognizable figure on the tour, as she recently met the men’s golfing giant Tiger Woods at the Notah Begay Challenge.
After her meeting with Woods, she said, "I've always looked up to him so it was great to meet him and talk to him".
Thompson further said, "And he said, 'I'll play golf with you any time', and that means a lot coming from a person at that level".
Feng, on the other hand, has been getting the limelight because of the way she has been playing throughout the season. She said, "It feels really good after I won all the tournaments, and it makes me feel like a star", Feng added, "I still have space to
improve and hope I can do even better".
