Lexi Thompson to host golf clinic for kids
Lexi Thompson, who recently stunned the world by becoming the youngest winner on the LPGA and Ladies European Tour, is training young golfers in South Florida.
Ever since Thompson came back to Florida, she has been immersed in helping kids learn golf skills. She will reportedly run a clinic that is training over 100 school children.
The programme dubbed “Tee Time with Lexi” will be held on Thursday at Coral Ridge Country Club, Fort Lauderdale.
Thompson will train kids in different aspects. So far, the clinic has received plenty of appreciation from experts and golf stars.
Persons associated with the clinic said that the programme is designed to help rising young golfers master much-needed putting skills.
According to the details, Thompson will show up at the clinic at 4 p.m.
In addition to walking kids through the basic techniques, rules and regulations of golf, the young golf prodigy will share her own experience, revealing her magic that helped her become the most prominent young golfer.
She plans to tell kids how she became the youngest golfer to make it to the US Women’s Open.
Analysts have said that Thompson’s plans to interact with young golfers will help boost the interest of golf among new entrants.
The programme for Thursday will involve assistance from Dolph Roder, a golf instructor who runs training programmes locally.
Roder will conduct the training session. The session will feature multiple golf techniques.
Roder will teach kids how to hold the club properly and make putts. Moreover, the young ones will also get a chance to play with Thompson for a while.
Organizers of the clinic said the programme is exclusively designed for kids, keeping in mind their love for Lexi Thompson. They also said that the general public cannot attend the clinic.
Thompson is regarded as one of the most influential young players on the LPGA. As she received exemption from Q-school recently, she was given full-time membership in the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) for the 2012 season.
Thompson is going well these days. She recently told while taking to the media that she is eyeing big events in the current season.
