Leyton Hewitt enters Wimbledon 2010: Roger Federer defeated
To rob a course from the late Vitas Gerulaitis after his lengthy losing cycle against Jimmy Connors at last finished in 1979, no one defeats Leyton Hewitt 16 times in a series. Hewitt will be looking forward for the upcoming Wimbledon 2010 after defeating Roger Federer at the pre-Wimbledon warm up match in Halle.

It finally brings a suspension to a streak that had lasted for Hewitt for a period of over five years. It is just perfectly timed however the win must be bothering to say the least for Roger Federer.

The Swiss out of his last two finals has not won even a single tournament. Federer won the Australian Open this January as his 16th major title. The former World number one was replaced by Rafael Nadal in the previous week after losing in the semi-final match of the French Open 2010.

He also directed Leyton Hewitt in the second set at 4-4 as well as through a set, just for the Australian tennis ace to assemble for a 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win wrapped up by a numb forehand net elongation.

Hewitt won his last title at Houston about a year ago. The Australian tennis ace has won on grass court after a period of four years. As a result of this victory, Hewitt has jumped in the ATP rankings as high as number 26 in the world.

The 29-year-old Hewitt after the match seemed extremely satisfied and contented. “It is simply superb for me”, claimed the Australian tennis sensation. The title came for him as his 28th in the career as well as his fourth best among the operating players.

Hewitt is a four times champions at the Queen’s Club so far.  He will come back to London in order to practice at the All England Club for the rest of the week. He initially moved from the Queen’s Club to Germany for his preparations of the upcoming Wimbledon. The Australian tennis ace just needs to be focused both mentally and physically in order to perform well at Wimbledon.

Hewitt accepted that after his hip surgery for the second time and consequent knee arthroscopy during the start of this year, he could not have even dreamed that by the month of June, he would be able to defeat his long time molester on grass.

During the injury, it was obviously not what he imagined for. But undoubtedly, Hewitt and his team members have worked extremely hard including Nathan Healy, his coach as well as Ivan Guttierez, who is Hewitt’s physiotherapist.

Hewitt never lost his hopes of returning back to the game of tennis. Although it would have been very simple just to retire and later on give an excuse of not being able to get back well on time, but Hewitt is highly confident of his capabilities to tackle the young slot equally well. The more he works on his fitness and form, the more he will find it easy to compete strongly against his opponents.

However, the question that arises at this stage is that is Hewitt really back on track? When asked from Roger Federer who is the six times champion at Wimbledon, he replied by saying that he was never gone in the real sense of term. But obviously the injury period just kept him away from the scene and so the Australian tennis ace was not around for some time.

Although Hewitt made a slow start this year in terms of title however he still has managed to make his way into Wimbledon 2010. The way he is playing at the moment is quite surprising for everyone and the tennis star is satisfied with his form meaning by some high quality display of tennis will be seen by the fans all around the globe.
