Lg dvd 5.1 home cinema?

won't play dvd's anymore just cd's can i just replace the dvd bit or do i have to buy a complete new syatem ?

You should be able to use the old speakers with the new receiver.

This is why I don't like those "home theater in a box" kits.  They're cheap because they use a cheap DVD player and cheap surround sound decoder, but don't include other features, like auxilary inputs for other audio (or video) devices.

Fortunately, an entry level 5.1 receiver can be had for just a few hundred, and DVD players are really cheap nowadays too.
