Li Han continues her stunning run to reach in Women’s Singles semi-final of Korea Open GP Gold
China’s emerging shuttler Li Han continues her convincing run as she has reached in the Women’s Singles semi-final after beating Korea’s Hyun Jin Lee in the quarter-final showdown in the 2011 Korea Open GP Gold, in Korea, on Friday, December 9.
The un-seeded Chinese is in tremendous form as she played wonderful badminton in all matches in the Korea Open. In the quarter-final battle, Han played remarkable game and finished off the match in straight games against the Korean.
Hyun Jin played well but not enough to get rid of the Chinese, who ended the battle by taking 47 minutes in the court.
The opening game was interesting when both players put up fabulous show and remained close until the ending points when the Chinese remained lucky in scoring the winning point to take the game with a tight score. In the second game, Han sailed smoothly as she found no resistance from the Korean and won the second set with a comfortable score.
Hyun Jin opened the first game in aggressive way but failed to set up a comfortable lead as his Chinese rival was quicker in executing wonderful defensive strokes. The score progresses closely as both shuttlers played positive game and pushed each other in all areas of the court. Until the break, no one could take a considerable lead.
After the interval, both ladies again remained close until the ending points of the opening game. At this crucial stage, Han played a few wonderful shots and remained successful in winning the first game with a close margin of 23-21.
In the following set of the match, the Korean tried to accelerate her speed in the opening points but failed to cope up with the speed and perfection of her challenger.
Han continued her roller-coaster run by playing fast badminton and finished up the game with a comfortable score of 21-13. The final result of this 47-minute quarter-final fight was 23-21 and 21-13.
In the semi-final of the championship, Han will face senior team-mate and 5th seed of the event, Xuerui Li, who defeated the top seed and compatriot Yanjiao Jiang in the other quarter-final.
