Li Han stuns Cheng Shao Chieh to reach in Women’s Singles final of 2011 Macau Open Grand Prix Gold

China’s incredible shuttler, Li Han, who started the tournament as a qualifier has reached into Women’s Singles final after thrashing Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Shao Chieh in the semi-final of the 2011 Macau Open Grand Prix Gold, in Macau, on Friday, December
3.
The young and passionate Han has proved her worth by reaching in the title match of the tournament. She participated in the event as a qualifier and has turned in major contender by crushing every opponent in her way to reach in the final. In the semi-final
battle, she defeated the World Number Nine Shao Chieh, who was the third seed in the Women’s Singles draw of the tournament.
Han played stunning badminton in the opening set of the match and won it with a superb margin. In the second game, the higher ranked Shao Chieh put up a little resistance in the opening rallies of the second game but Han controlled the rallies and finished
up the second set with a reasonable margin.
Shao Chieh opened the first set in a relaxed way which helped the lower ranked Chinese shuttler to remain ahead in the whole set. Han played with incredible aggression and showed no sign of slowing down in the whole game. She moved forward in a stunning
way by playing to her full potential and reached at 11-3 until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the Chinese continued her impressive play and stretched her lead. The Taipei shuttler failed to put up strong show and played negative strokes against the in-form challenger of China. Han remained on the right track to take the opening
game with a superb score of 21-9.
In the second game, Shao Chieh played fast badminton but failed to build any lead as her opponent was also playing at the same speed. The score was 5-5 when Han started to accelerate her speed and played positive badminton. Until the break, the Chinese was
ahead of her opponent at 11-6.
After the break, the Chinese remained focused in the game by showing no mercy to the third seed and finished up the second game with a decent score of 21-17. The end result of this 31-minute Women’s Singles fight was 21-9 and 21-17.
In the final of the championship, Han will take on higher ranked compatriot, Wang Shixian, who defeated her team-mate Xuerui Li in the other semi-final match.
