World No.5, Li Na from China has signed for the Apia Sydney International tournament and will take part as the defending champion. She won the last year’s Sydney title defeating Kim Clijsters in the final and flabbergasted everyone
at the arena with her exciting shot making ability and control over the game.
Craig Watson, the tournament director, welcomed the reigning champion of Sydney and proclaimed that her inclusion will make the tournament much more interesting and will enhance the viewership all over the world. He said, “Li Na
truly was a revelation here last summer with her title in Sydney and her incredible run to the Australian Open final. She really captured the hearts of all tennis fans. I know she is really looking forward to returning to the Apia International Sydney to defend
her title”.
Li Na is the only Chinese superstar that has made remarkable achievements in the field of tennis and home fans are delighted at her consistent performance at elite platforms, especially her majestic victory in Roland Garros earlier
this year and increased her fan following all across China. With her inclusion, more Chinese would fly to Sydney to see their tennis ace battle it out at the courts to defend her title against the world’s top women of tennis.
Chinese superstar explained her emotions and delight for returning to Sydney in following words “I did so well there this year in Sydney tournament. So, if you win a tournament you are always looking forward to coming back the
next year”.
Chinese No.1, Li Na, is mesmerized by Sydney’s natural outlook and wants to visit the most exciting and famous sites in her free time. She is looking forward to visit Opera House which is her dream since childhood and wants to
visit Harbour Bridge as well.
Tennis ace, World No.5, Li Na, has won 5 WTA and 19 ITF singles titles in her career; she was crowned French Open champion earlier this year; she was the first Asian to qualify for the 2011 Australian Open Grand Slam tournament
and reached to the finals of the tournament where she lost to the Belgium tennis superstar, Kim Clijsters.
She will be joined by the local World No.6, Samantha Stosur, and with the inclusion of elite tennis icons in the tournament, it is supposed to be one of the most influential tournaments of the year. The tournament is scheduled
to be played from January 8-14, next year.
