Li Ning China Masters 2012: Wang Yihan outshines Jiang Yanjiao to bag Women’s Singles crown
China’s most talented player Wang Yihan stamped her superiority on court in front of her home crowd as she bagged Women’s Singles crown after playing remarkable badminton against her lower ranked compatriot Jiang Yanjiao in title match at the Li Ning China
Masters 2012 in China, on Sunday, September 16.
The World Number One Yihan, who failed to live up to expectations in the final battle of London Olympics 2012, going down to her team-mate Li Xuerui, proved that she has left her bad memories behind by showing a spectacular performance to raise the Chinese
flag in the home event.
Yihan employed her lofty craft on court in the title match and remained fully focused on court and she wrapped up victory by finishing off the contest in two games in 45 minutes with a convincing margin on score board.
On the contrary, the World Number Nine Yanjiao failed to stretch her staggering performance in final encounter as she could not cope up with the speed and smart play of Yihan and went down in straight games without proving her mettle in front of her home
crowd.
The first game of this contest was thrilling when both Chinese shuttlers employed all of their skills on court and progressed close on score board.
It was anybody’s game in opening half as no one could manage a clear gap until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Yihan tried to create gap on score board by accelerating her speed but she failed to earn any considerable benefit as her opponent was quick and positive on court.
The under-dog Yanjiao was leading the game by an advantage of 18-16 when Yihan showed a stunning performance and scored five consecutive points to wrap up the first game with a 21-18 score on the board.
It was an easy ride for Yihan in the following set as she played with remarkable precision and did not repeat the mistakes that she made in the opening set.
Yihan played with control and remained successful in finishing up the second set in a striking fashion with a stunning margin of 21-14.
The top seeded Yihan won the Women’s Singles crown by ending up the final battle in straight sets with a 21-18 and 21-14 score on the board.
