Li Ning China Masters: Chen Yuekun outshines Kwong Beng Chan in Men’s Singles qualifying round
Chen Yuekun, the most promising and dedicated young shuttler from China, stretched his winning run and stormed into Men’s Singles main round after crushing his higher ranked challenger Kwong Beng Chan of Malaysia at the Li Ning China Masters 2012 at Changzhou,
China, on Tuesday, September 11.
The incredible Chen, who remained uncontrollable in the whole qualifying round, remained unbeaten in the last match and managed to overpower Kwong Beng who was the top seeded shuttler in the qualifying round draw of the championship.
Yuekun showed his aggressive and positive play throughout the match against his experienced Malaysian rival and overpowered him by finishing off the contest in straight sets in just 36 minutes.
The top seeded Kwong Beng, on the other hand, remained struggling throughout the contest against his local opponent as he could not put up strong show. He failed to match the pace of rallies and knelt down against his rival with a one-sided margin.
The in-form Yuekun was at his best form on court as he was confident in his strategy and smooth in his movement which played a vital role in his comprehensive victory over Kwong Beng who was chocked to receive the punishing treatment.
The lofty Yuekun was in complete control of rallies in the opening half and took a remarkable lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Yuekun continued showing his tremendous performance without letting the Malaysian shuttler to put up strong resistance.
The Chinese player made his fans happy by taking the first set with a spectacular 21-14 margin on the score board.
In the second set, Kwong Beng also showed a few glimpses of his impressive craft but he failed to stand against the power play of his Chinese opponent and remained trailing until the one-minute break.
After the 60-second interval, Yuekun again showed amazing play by executing accurate strokes in all areas of the court and ended up the set with a crushing margin of 21-14.
The passionate Yuekun won this qualifying round encounter by taking just 36 minutes with a dictating 21-14 and 21-14 score on the board.
