Li Ning China Masters: Chen Yuekun tames Matthieu Lo Ying Ping in Men’s Singles qualifying round
China’s young and spirited shuttler Chen Yuekun proved his mettle on home soil as he played remarkable badminton and overpowered Matthieu Lo Ying Ping of France at the Li Ning China Masters Super Series 2012 on Tuesday, September 11, in China.
The lofty Yuekun played to his maximum potential and proved that he has achieved a certain level of skills to take bigger challenges at international arena. He thrashed his French rival in a completely dictating fashion.
The in-form Yuekun showed his aggression and cheered his home fans with his remarkable performance on court as he ended up the battle in straight games while putting up a staggering show of his attacking play for just 27 minutes.
In the meanwhile, Matthieu played competitive badminton in the opening game but failed to maintain his rhythm and also could not cope up with the power and speed of his rival. He went down easily against Yuekun with a humiliating margin on the board.
The opening set of this qualifying round clash was interesting when both contestants showed their impressive craft on court by playing at their best speed and managed to remain close on the board until the one-minute break.
However, it was the passionate Chinese player who started to turn things around by putting variations in his shots and pushed Matthieu in all corners of the court.
The local shuttler was in complete control of the pace at the concluding points of opening set and he took it with grace by putting up 21-17 figure on score board.
The following game was absolutely shocking even beyond the imagination of Matthieu as his spirited opponent put up a killing show of top quality badminton and set up an incredible gap until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, Yuekun did not lose his focus and also kept the pace of rallies high. He showed no respect to Matthieu all the way to snatch the second set with an unbelievable margin of 21-4.
Yuekun easily stamped his mark over Matthieu by winding up the battle in a lopsided fashion with a stunning 21-17 and 21-4 score on the board.
