Li Ning China Masters: Jiang Yanjiao beats Busanan Ongbumrungpan in Women’s Singles quarter-final
China’s spirited player Jiang Yanjiao proved her elevated craft in front of her home crowd and surged into Women’s Singles semi-final after narrowly defeating Thailand’s Busanan Ongbumrungpan at the Li Ning China Masters 2012 in China, on Friday, September
14.
The fourth seeded Yanjiao, who is currently World Number Nine in Women’s Singles main draw, had to utilise all of her shots and managed to finish up the contest in 61 minutes in a tight fashion.
Higher ranked Yanjiao was in all sorts of trouble while playing against her talented Thai rival but she managed to defy all odds and emerged as the winner in three games with a reasonable margin on score board.
The lower ranked Busanan, on the other hand, gave a superb fight to her Chinese rival throughout the battle but she failed to live up to the expectations in the final set and lost to Yanjiao in three sets with a respectable score.
In the first game, Busanan played remarkable badminton by keeping the pace of rallies high and managed a reasonable lead until the mid-game interval.
However, the local shuttler played to her maximum potential at this stage and made the score levelled without facing any trouble. She continued her elevated show and finished off the set with a 21-15 margin on the board.
The following game was also interesting in opening points but the Thai shuttler managed a small lead until the break.
Yanjiao tried her best to take over the charge of rallies from her Thai rival but she failed to dictate the pace and eventually lost the set with a 16-21 score on the board.
The deciding game was tough for both contestants who remained close on score board until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Yanjiao showed her remarkable craft on court and she started to put up wonderful show of attacking badminton which helped her to grab the set with a 21-15 score on the board.
The impressive Yanjiao emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles quarter-final battle with a sensational margin of 21-15, 16-21 and 21-15.
