Li Ning China Masters: P. V. Sindhu tames Jamie Subandhi to surge into Women’s Singles second round
The young and Impressive shuttler from India P. V. Sindhu proved her mettle on court and secured her berth in Women’s Singles second round after defeating Jamie Subandhi of USA in first round encounter at the Li Ning China Masters Super Series 2012 on Wednesday,
September 12, in China.
The in-form Sindhu, who has been positioned at number 25 in Women’s Singles world placements, put up staggering show in front of the local crowd and sent Jamie packing without putting in extra effort.
Sindhu was in commanding position throughout the match while remaining focused on court and she registered her mark over Jamie in an authoritative fashion by finishing off this straight-set contest in just 24 minutes.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked and un-seeded Jamie could not create any trouble for her Indian rival in the whole battle as she failed to control the pace of rallies. She was helpless against the perfect play of her rival and lost the battle without
taking any set.
The first set was interesting when the USA shuttler put up wonderful show and remained in commanding position at the opening stage and set up a reasonable gap on score board.
On the other hand, Sindhu could not play dictating game in opening rallies and she remained struggling to find a good flow until the end of opening half when she was behind her rival on score board at 9-11.
After the mid-game interval, Sindhu geared up her speed in all areas and ended the domination of her rival. She played with precision and managed to win the set with a good margin of 21-15.
The second set was also interesting in opening sets when both shuttlers injected power in their shots and remained close on score board at the initial stage.
However, the Indian shuttler started to play positive and dominating badminton and she managed to get a strong position by taking a reasonable lead on score board.
After the break, Sindhu continued playing positive and aggressive badminton and managed to finish off the second set with a huge margin of 21-12.
Sindhu emerged as the winner against Jamie in straight games with a staggering 21-15 and 21-12 score on the board.
