China’s emerging player Huan Gao cheered his huge home crowd when he penetrated into Men’s Singles quarter-final after beating the in-form Daren Liew of Malaysia in Men’s Singles round-of-16 battle at Li Ning China Open 2021 in Shanghai, on Thursday, November
15.
The incredible Huan, who has been impressive in the whole tournament, continued his giant killing run and easily showed exit to Daren who won the French Open Super Series 2012 just a couple of weeks ago.
Having the support of home fans, Chinese shuttler put up staggering show of top quality badminton and remained successful in winning against his experienced Malaysian rival in straight games with an incredible margin on the board.
On the other hand, Daren did not expect such a tremendous play form his young Chinese rival. He committed many mistakes and also missed many chanced to earn points and ultimately went down without taking any set.
Right from the initial points, Huan showed a great character as he did not show any mercy to his Malaysian rival and managed a reasonable lead at the early stage.
The hard-to-learn variations in Huan’s shots created pressure on Daren who remained struggling to find a good flow in the arena and also remained behind until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Huan stayed on track as he did not lose his focus and managed to win the opening game in a stunning fashion with a superb 21-13 score on the board.
In the following set, the aggressive Huan remained comfortable in the arena after the by playing in the similar dominating fashion.
Until the one-minute break in the second set, the Chinese was again in strong position as he did not spare any chance for Daren to take over the charge of rallies.
In the concluding half, Daren failed to show strong performance as his opponent Huan played better game and secured the set with a three-point advantage of 21-18.
The young and impressive Huan emerged as the winner in this pre-quarter-final battle against Daren by ending up the fight in 50 minutes with a 21-13 and 21-18 score on the board.
