Li Ning China Open 2012: Miyuki Maeda and Satoko Suetsuna penetrates into Women’s Doubles semi-final
Japan’s in-form shuttlers Miyuki Maeda and Satoko Suetsuna showed an aggressive performance in the arena and powered their way into Women’s Doubles semi-final at the Li Ning China Open 2012, which is in progress in China.
In the quarter-final encounter, Miyuki and Satoko were in tremendous form as they defeated Thailand’s Duanganong Aroonkesorn and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul in a dominating fashion on Friday, November 16.
The World Number Nine Miyuki and Satoko, who have been positioned at number six in Women’s Doubles seeding in the tournament, played with remarkable precision and managed to end up the winning run of their Thai challengers in straight games with a decent
margin in 44 minutes.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Duanganong and Kunchala could not put up strong resistance as they remained struggling in all areas of the court in first game.
However, Thai ladies put up strong show in the following set but remained unlucky in the ending points and lost the match with a reasonable difference on board.
Miyuki and Satoko played with terrific control in their powerful shots and they managed to occupy the driving seat from the initial points of first set.
Japanese shuttler kept the tempo of the game very fast and they managed to stay in commanding position by setting up a huge lead until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Miyuki and Satoko continued their ruthless run in the arena and showed no mercy to their opponents all the way to claim the set with a staggering 21-8 score on the board.
In the following set, Miyuki and Satoko could not set up a huge lead in the opening half as their rivals also played at the same speed.
Until the one-minute break in second set, both pairs stayed close on score board as they played at the same level.
After the interval, both sides continued playing thrilling badminton without dropping down their speed and the score reached at 20-20.
Miyuki and Satoko played smart badminton at this stage by controlling the pace of rallies at net and managed to bag the game with a tight margin of 22-20.
The in-form Japanese shuttler emerged as winners in this Women’s Doubles quarter-final battle with a decent 21-8 and 22-20 score on the board.
