Li Ning China Open 2012: Wei Feng Chong trounces Takuma Ueda in Men’s Singles quarter-final
Malaysia’s late bloomer Wei Feng Chong showed a wonderful performance in the arena as he stormed into Men’s Singles semi-final after thrashing Japan’s Takuma Ueda in quarter-final match at Li Ning China Open 2012 on Friday, November 16, in China.
The World Number 26 Wei Feng, who remained impressive in all of his matches in the tournament, continued showing up a staggering performance and he took just 37 minutes to show exit to his Japanese rival.
Malaysian shuttler continued his roller-coaster run in the tournament without facing a considerable problem as he easily registered his mark over Ueda in straight games with a dictating margin on the board.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Ueda failed to maintain his winning streak as he could not find a finishing touch in his shots and remained unable to match the speed of his in-form Malaysian challenger throughout the contest.
In the first game, Wei Feng showed aggression in the arena as he did not let down the pace of rallies at any stage and took an early lead in an authoritative fashion.
The incredible variations in Wei Feng’s strokes spared no chance for Ueda to survive on court and he remained struggling behind until the end of first half.
In the concluding phase of opening set, Wei Feng advanced with a terrific speed and remained consistent in his positive and planned play.
Malaysian player did not experience any trouble in the opening game and he easily bagged it with a staggering 21-16 margin on the score board.
In the second game, the World Number 35 Ueda put in extra effort to play attacking badminton but he could not shake the impressive defence of his rival and again remained trailing until the break.
In the concluding half, the impressive Wei Feng stayed on track without losing his focus at any stage and he remained successful in wrapping up the second set with a crushing margin of 21-13.
The incredible speed and positive play of Wei Feng assisted him in getting rid of Ueda in just 37 minutes and he finished up the fight in straight games with a superb 21-16 and 21-13 total on the board.
