Li Shixin conquers Men's 1m Springboard gold medal – 2011 World Diving Championships
Li Shixin of China conquered the gold medal of the Men’s 1m Springboard, by dominating the final of the event on the third day of the 2011 World Diving Championships.
Shixin’s victory in the 1m discipline has added another title to the dominance of the Chinese team in the diving events of the World Championships. With Shixin’s win, China has now won three gold medals in the initial three events of diving, as they won
the titles of 3m Springboard Synchronised Women and 10m Platform Synchronised Men earlier at the championship.
Shixin won the title of the event in scintillating fashion, as he put forward a winning effort which helped him score a total of 463.90 points. He was followed by his team-member, Min He, who stayed only 19.90 points behind him and accumulated a score of
444.00 points for the silver medal. The third position of the event was secured by Pavlo Rozenberg of Germany, who stayed 7.50 points away from the silver medallist and captured the bronze medal with a score of 436.50 points.
The fourth position of the 1m diving event was obtained by Chris Colwill of USA, who stayed almost nine points behind him and gained a total of 427.15 points. Next was Spain’s Javier Illana Garcia, who remained almost 25 points away from the fourth position
holder and was ranked fifth on the points table, with his impressive effort of 402.00 points. Reuben Ross of Canada was named as the sixth best diver of the 1m Springboard event, as he achieved a score of 401.40 points.
Evgeny Kuznetsov of Russia occupied the seventh best spot of the event, by scoring a total of 388.10 points. He was followed by Andrzej Rzeszutek of Poland, who remained almost twenty points behind Kuznetsov and entered the final as the eighth diver, with
a score of 368.95 points.
In addition, the arena applauded for the wonderful efforts of all divers, while the podium finishers will receive medals for their noteworthy swims in the medal ceremony of the World Championships.
