Li Wen Cherie captures Girls 200m breaststroke gold – MILO National Schools Swimming Championships
Li Wen Cherie Sim of HCI captured gold medal of the 200m breaststroke in Division-A of Girls 16-19 Year Olds age category at the 53rd MILO National Schools Swimming Championships in Phoenix, Arizona on April 25.
The 16-year-old Sim went full throttle in the distant breaststroke event and upset her challengers by occupying gold medal of the event.
With her smothering efforts, she gave no chance to her challengers and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 52.76 seconds.
Her invincible effort remained nearly two seconds faster from Boon Yin Annis Loy of TJC, who followed her on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 54.63 seconds.
Loy was followed by Jia Le Isabel See of RI, who stayed nearly fourteen seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and emerged on the victory stand for bronze medal by clocking a time of 3 minutes and 08.46 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Shu Shan Stacey Teng of ACJC, who remained almost eight seconds behind and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 3 minutes and 16.68 seconds for fourth position.
Afterwards, Zerlynn Tiang of ACJC impressed the audience by snaring the title of 50m butterfly in the equivalent category.
Tiang remained in a lead of nearly two seconds over Xiang Fei Melisa Tay, who secured silver medal of the discipline by posting a time of 30.34 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Jia Le Zhang of HCI, who occupied third position of the discipline by producing a time of 32.12 seconds.
Zhang’s gruelling effort remained just 0.05 seconds faster from Li Wen Ng of RI, who finished fourth with the timing of 32.17 seconds. She was followed by Rachel Tay of RI, who completed her swim in fifth best place by clocking a time of 33.78 seconds.
In addition, the crowd appreciated notable efforts of all contestants in their respective events while the position holders were awarded medals and accolades for their undisputed efforts at the prize distribution ceremony after the championship.
