Li Xuerui outshines Pui Yin in opening round of 2013 Yonex German Open
China’s badminton queen Li Xuerui employed all of her experience and brilliance in the game and thrashed Yip Pui Yin in the opening round of Yonex German Open on February 27, 2013.
This Women’s Singles encounter lasted for 56 minutes as both shuttlers displayed great fighting spirit while piling up decisive figures of 21-16, 19-21 and 21-11.
The Olympic champion Li Xuerui prevailed n the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the Hong Kong campaigner could pocket only second match point.
With this impressive win, the winning shuttler setup her clash with Lindaweni Fanetri in pre quarter-final round of this prestigious tournament.
In her opening match, Li Xuerui played with an authoritative approach and alarmed all the contestants with a staggering knock.
She established a strong grip over game by claiming the opening match point and served notice of her supremacy in the final set.
The battle heated up when Li Xuerui launched a brisk attack and pushed her competitor on the back foot. She did not give Pui Yin even a single chance to proceed on the points table and made a significant difference way before the interval.
The latter part of game was also dominated by her as she played flawless badminton and registered an overwhelming score of 21-16.
However, things were not that much easy for her in the following game as Pui Yin showed a transformed character and stormed back into contest.
This time the Women’s Singles expert from Hong Kong did not repeat previous mistakes and established an early advantage.
She did not allow her opponent to come out of her influence and finished first half of the set with a respectable figure.
After the mid-game break, Pui Yin lost control for a short span of time but then few productive rallies helped her to place a favourable score of 21-19.
The decider was expected to be tough test for both of them but it proved a dead contest. Li Xuerui showed her class in this crucial set and sealed her victory with 21-11 margin.
Now she will resume her campaign in pre quarter-finals of 2013 German Open.
