Li Xuerui punishes Sung Ji Hyun in Women’s Singles Group A contest at BWF Superseries Finals 2012
China’s lanky player Li Xuerui stretched her winning run in front of her home crowd as she easily defeated Korea’s impressive player Sung Ji Hyun in Women’s Singles Group A clash at BWF Superseries Finals 2012 in China, on Friday, December 14.
The ruling Olympic Champion Xuerui, who is currently World Number Two and top seeded in Women’s Singles category, showed her elite skills in the arena and easily gave a severe lesson to her lower ranked Korean challenger in just 30 minutes.
Chinese shuttler cheered her home fans by playing attacking and positive badminton and she registered a comprehensive victory over Ji Hyun by ending up the contest in straight games with a spectacular margin on the score board.
On the contrary, the World Number Eight Ji Hyun tried her best to play aggressive badminton but she failed to put up strong show against the top seeded Xuerui and eventually lost the match with a crushing margin.
In the first game, the higher ranked Chinese lady showed an amazing aggression on court from the opening points and built a huge pressure on her opponent.
Xuerui was quite smooth in taking the bird early and she did not encounter any trouble in hitting her shots in targeted areas.
The in-form Xuerui did not show any sign of confusion as she was in complete control of rallies until the one-minute interval.
Chinese shuttler remained confident on court without losing her focus after the one-minute break as she played with the same approach.
Xuerui remained consistent in executing powerful shots in targeted areas and grabbed the opening game with a stunning total of 21-9.
In the second game, Xuerui played with stunning speed without sparing any opportunity for Ji Hyun to find a good rhythm.
Xuerui displayed her unmatched craft in the arena by picking the bird early from all areas and kept her domination over her challenger.
Ji Hyun could not show resistance in the second game of this contest as her rival Xuerui played flawless badminton and took the set with a stunning 21-12 difference on the board.
The top seeded Xuerui emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles Group A contest in straight games with a completely lopsided margin of 21-9 and 21-12.
