China, on Thursday, September 13.
The ruling Olympic Champion Xuerui, who is World Number Two and second seed in Women’s Singles draw in the tournament, showed her top class skills on court and she easily registered a stunning victory over Simone who was un-seeded player in the draw.
Xuerui played with confidence and control in her shots and made her Austrian rival work hard to return the perfectly placed shots throughout the battle and ended it up in straight sets with a crushing margin by consuming just 25 minutes on court.
Un-seeded Simone, on the other hand, could not live up to expectations as she was no match to the mighty Chinese player. She failed to create pressure on her opponent all the way in both games and lost the battle in a lopsided fashion without showing her
worth.
The opening set was absolutely incredible when Xuerui proved her supremacy on court by playing at her best and took an early lead with a surprising ease.
Until the end of opening half, Xuerui made a great progress on court as she established a staggering lead on score board.
After the mid-game interval, the higher ranked Xuerui continued putting up great performance without showing any mercy to her Austrian opponent and ultimately won the opening set with a smashing 21-8 score on the board.
The following set was a little better as Simone played better badminton this time. She increased her speed and remained close in the opening rallies.
However, Xuerui started to play attacking badminton and managed a decent lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, the Chinese shuttler remained calm and positive on court which helped her to finish off the second set in an easy fashion with a 21-15 score on the board.
Xuerui stamped her mark over Simone in straight games in just 25 minutes with a lopsided margin of 21-8 and 21-15.
