Women’s Singles expert Li Xuerui played impeccable badminton and secured a quarter-final berth in Yonex Denmark Open after thrashing Belaetrix Manuputi on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
This pre quarter-final tussle was staged at local badminton arena of Odense, Denmark and both contenders remained head-to-head for 32 minutes before ending this match with 21-17 and 21-14 margin.
The Olympic champion Li Xuerui proved herself superior in all areas of the game and sealed a splendid straight-set victory.
Meanwhile, the inexperienced Indonesian campaigner could not match her rival’s skills and crashed out of this Premier Super Series.
In the opening game, Li Xuerui gained an early advantage by registering 4-1 margin in no time and then doubled her lead by prevailing in the next couple of rallies.
She maintained the upper hand until mid-game break and piled up an indomitable total of 11. This initial lead helped her also in the later part of the game as the Chinese badminton queen cruised to victory with great ease.
She mounted pressure with a flurry of power packed strokes and enthralled her challenger with a mountainous figure of 15-11.
Third quarter of the set saw her in prime touch as she did not give the opposing shuttler even a single chance to comeback and blew her away with a staggering knock of 21-17.
The World Number two female shuttler Li Xuerui who is also second seeded player of the tournament, showed consistency in her performance and also ruled the court in the following game.
She started the beating from very first stroke and kept her competitor at the lower end until the last shot was played.
On the other hand, Belaetrix Manuputi looked overwhelmed as she could not come out of her rival’s influence throughout this second set, which proved the decider later.
Li Xuerui set the ball rolling with couple of consecutive points and maintained this rhythm all the way to one-minute break.
After the mid-game break, she played with authoritative approach and raised her total to 17-9. She did not show any mercy and smacked her opponent with an overwhelming margin of 21-14.
Now she will be up against Juliane Schenk of Germany and a win will ensure her presence in the semi-final round.
