Li Xuerui wins Women’s Singles crown at Li Ning China Open to continue her winning streak
Just a couple of years ago, no one could have anticipated that Li Xuerui would become one of the most decorated shuttlers on the planet in Women’s Singles category. But, the lofty Chinese lady proved her steely determination by putting in untiring effort
and won the gold at London Olympics. Now, on Sunday, November 18, she proved her worth in front of her home fans by winning Li Ning China Open title in style.
The 21-yearl old Xuerui, who has been positioned at number two in Women’s Singles world ranking, is one of the most aggressive shuttlers in the world who should an impressive maturity in her play and remained successful in creating a respectable place for
her in such a short time.
In the China Open, Xuerui was the second seeded player in the main draw and she lived up to the expectations of her home fans by playing incredibly fast and positive badminton. She remained successful in winning the Women’s Singles crown without facing any
considerable trouble from any of her rivals all the way.
In the final encounter, Xuerui was up against Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon who is considered one of the most dedicated and promising players in the world. However, the higher ranked Chinese player was on a different level as she played flawless badminton
and registered a comprehensive victory over her Thai rival in just 31 minutes.
The in-form Xuerui was in remarkable form in the arena as she did not show any mercy to her lower ranked opponent Ratchanok and remained successful in finishing up the final match in a dominating fashion. She maintained pressure on her opponent all the way
and ended it up in straight games with a huge margin on the board.
Chinese shuttler was in complete command of rallies from the starting points of opening game. She did not spare any chance for her Thai challenger to put up strong show in opening points of first game and created pressure on Ratchanok who failed to play
positive badminton.
The impressive variations in Xuerui’s shots assisted her to continue her domination against her challenger in the arena. She continued showing up her lofty skills without showing any mercy to her opponent and remained successful in creating a huge gap on
score board until the end of opening half in first set.
After the break, Ratchanok tried her best to play attacking badminton but failed to shake the confidence of her local opponent who was on a different showing up her incredible craft in the arena. Thai lady remained struggling in the second half as she could
not match the speed of Xuerui who easily took the opening game with a crushing margin of 21-12.
In the second game, Xuerui maintained the pace of rallies at the same level and did not let her opponent to get closer on score board at any stage. She was consistent in her positive play and managed a huge lead until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Xuerui continued putting up stunning performance in the arena. She cheered up her home fans by playing positive and aggressive badminton without losing her focus at any stage. Her powerful smashes landed in right areas and she
managed to end up the second game with an incredible margin of 21-9.
Xuerui proved her craft on court by playing planned and positive badminton throughout the tournament and maintained the similar positive show in the final battle. She ended up the title match in straight games with a crushing 21-12 and 21-9 margin and proved
