Lia Neal wins Women’s 200m freestyle title – 2011 USA Swimming Long Course Junior Nationals
Day four of the 2011 USA Swimming Long Course Junior Nationals began in brilliant fashion with the scintillating swim of Lia Neal in Paloalto, California, on Thursday, August 11.
The session of the meet conducted the Women’s 200m freestyle A, B and C finals. In the Women’s 200m freestyle A final, Lia Neal earned the gold medal, while Kylie Stewart won the 200m freestyle B final. Jessica Marsh secured the title in the 200m freestyle
C final meet.
Initially, Asphalt Green’s Lia Neal hit the wall in 1 minute and 58.26 seconds to win the Women’s 200m A final title on the podium. More importantly, Neal beat Jasmine Tosky’s previous record of 1 minute and 58.54 seconds, set back in 2010.
In the corresponding meet, Quinn Carrozza of Una Ntro snagged the silver medal with a winning time of 1 minute and 59.19 seconds, whereas, Julia Anderson of Fort Worth Area snared the bronze title with an impressive time of 1 minute and 59.57 seconds.
Kathle Ledecky of Curl Burke Swim finished fourth in the respective meet with a time of 2 minutes and 00.79 seconds, while Laure Driscoll of Team Fla settled fifth in a time of 2 minutes and 01.81 seconds. Haley Lips of Y Spartaquatics wound up sixth by
posting a time of 2 minutes and 02.30 seconds and Nicol Stafford of Dynamo Swim Club was placed seventh in 2 minutes and 03.13 seconds. Daniel Georges of Aquazot Swim Clu earned eighth place honours with a time of 2 minutes and 03.29 seconds.
Meanwhile, Kylie Stewart of Dynamo Swim Club won the Women’s 200m freestyle B final with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 02.47 seconds. Henr Stenkvist of Raleigh Swimming finished second on the podium by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 02.49 seconds,
while Abigail Houck of North Jeffco Swi was placed third in a time of 2 minutes and 03.26 seconds.
The Women’s 200m freestyle C final meet was snatched by Mirada Armada’s Jessica Marsh with a winning time of 2 minutes and 03.49 seconds. Maryeli Warhol of Coast Guard Blue finished second in 2 minutes and 04.11 seconds, while Lauren Neidigh of Bolles School
Sh settled third in a time of 2 minutes and 04.23 seconds.
