Yorkshire County Cricket Club on Tuesday snapped up Liam Plunkett from Durham in a bid to strengthen their bowling department, following their championship promotion in the recently concluded 2012 county season.
The 27-year-old right-arm medium pacer has had an injury plagued 2012 season, and he could feature in only one championship game for Durham. Plunkett, who has been nursing Achilles injury this season, has had a lean 2011 campaign, in which he could claim only 11 wickets at an unimpressive average of 38.90.
The Yorkshire born medium pacer thanked the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 supporters, staff and his teammates for their support during his 12 year long stay at Riverside Ground.
"I have had 12 very happy years at the club and wish to thank the supporters, staff and my playing colleagues for the support they have shown me over that time," said the 27-year-old right arm medium pacer after signing a deal with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 county.
"At this stage of my career, I believe that a fresh challenge would benefit me and I feel this is required to help me reach my goal of representing my country again," he added further.
The medium pace bowler has also played nine Tests, 29 One day Internationals for England, besides a lone T20 International appearance for the Three http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, at Perth on February 6, 2011.
Plunkett’s lone T20 appearance for England was against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at Manchester.
"I have been fortunate enough to represent my country as recently as last year and there is no doubt I want to pull on an http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 shirt again," said the medium-pace bowler. "I strongly believe I have what it takes to play at the highest level again and I feel Yorkshire is the best environment to help me achieve this," he added further.
Plunkett has to date played 107 first class matches, picking up 321 wickets at an average of 31.75, including best figures of six for 63. In his 118 List A appearances, the pace bowler claimed 139 scalps at 31.84.
