Liang Jui Wei and Liao Kuan Hao capture Men’s Doubles title at the 2011 Bulgarian International
Chinese Taipei’s Liang Jui Wei and Liao Kuan Hao captured the Men’s Doubles title after beating their team-mates, Lu Chia Bin and Huang Po Yi in the final showdown of the 2011 Bulgarian International, on Sunday, October 9, in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria.
The fourth seeded, Jui Wei and Kuan Hao, who have improved a lot in every department of the game, are currently ranked at Number 85
position in the Men’s Doubles world rankings. The duo delivered a wonderful performance in the whole event by playing attacking and positive badminton and got the prize in the form of Men’s Doubles title in the event.
In the opening set, Jui Wei and Kuan Hao played positive badminton by hitting the bird hard into the bodies of their opponents. Their positive and safe play in the first game earned them a wonderful lead of 11-7 in the first-half of the set.
After the break, Jui Wei and Kuan Hao continued their smooth and uninterrupted run by playing at their highest speed. They played a terrific game by picking the bird early at the net which helped them in getting lose returns.
The powerful smashes and strong pushes of Jui Wei and Kuan Hao destroyed the defence of their challengers and earned them a win in the opening set with a big margin of 21-12 in just 12 minutes.
World Number 86, Po Yi and Chia Bin, played a different game in the second set as they became aggressive at the net. Their attacking play in this set kept them close to their higher ranked opponents who were also progressing at a similar speed. Until the
break, Jui Wei and Kuan Hao were one-point ahead at 11-10.
After the interval, both pairs remained close again by playing to their full potential. The score reached at the deciding stage of 20-20, when the higher ranked Jui Wei and Kuan Hao played some fabulous strokes and won the battle with a 22-20 score in 16
minutes. This straight-set match ended in just 28 minutes with the final score of 21-12 and 22-20.
