Lianne Tan overpowers Alesia Zaitsava in 2013 European Mixed Team Championships
Women’s Singles expert Lianne Tan played impeccable badminton and outclassed Alesia Zaitsava in the group stage of European Mixed Team Championships on February 13, 2013.
This encounter was part of a match between Belarus and Belgium and it kept both contenders head-to-head for 50 minutes.
Though, Lianne lost focus in some parts of the match but still she managed to lock the honour with an impressive result of 23-21, 9-21 and 22-20.
On the other hand, Alesia also earned great deal of admiration for showing great fighting spirit in all segments of the showdown.
The battle heated up when both female shuttlers challenged each other in all departments of the game in first set. They made every effort to gain an early advantage but neither of them could hit the mark in the establishing rallies.
However, Lianne did not take much time to read her rival’s game and employed an effective counter attack strategy. She bagged many valuable points and finished first half of the set with a respectable total.
After the mid-game break, the Belgian campaigner made couple of fatal mistakes and allowed her opponent to narrow the gap on points table.
Alesia did not fritter away this opportunity and counterbalance the situation. Both contenders remained equal until final moments and this nerve-racking contest ended when Lianne registered a winning margin of 23-21.
The second set of match proved a one-sided affair as Women’s Singles shuttler of Belarus did not give her competitor even a single chance to rise from the dust.
Alesia established an unassailable lead without any delay and then maintained that upper hand all the way to game point situation. She kept on moving forward at steady pace and swept the table with an overwhelming score of 21-9.
Third set became crucial for both contenders and they put all in their possession to pocket this match point.
They put a mesmerising show of badminton skills and kept the audience intact until last shot was played.
Finally, Lianne Tan struck hard and tipped the scale in her favour with a convincing margin of 22-20. With this win, she bagged a vital match point for Belgium.
