Liar's dice (or Pirate's dice to some)?

Can someone explain this game to me in detail cuz i really dont get it.

like one thing i dont get is how can you say for example twelve 5's when your only playing with 5 dice

the reason you can say twelve 5's, even though you are only playing with 5 dice, is that the call takes into account every player's dice, so 2 people will have 10 dice, 3 will have 15 dice, etc.
