Liber, clearly the one to beat in British Stallion Studs E B F Conditions Stakes at Musselburgh
Friday’s British Stallion Studs E B F Conditions Stakes at Musselburgh is an ideal opportunity for Liber to register his third victory this season. Following a tremendous show at Bath, Sir Mark Prescott Bt’s charge is brimming with confidence, and looks
to be the strongest candidate in the 5-furlong event, set to get underway at 15:00 GMT.
On good to firm, four speedy runners will try to stop Liber from bagging the big prize worth £7,763. However, it will be a very hard task for them to take the game away from the 2-year-old, who has a wonderful track record on hard surface.
Under Luke Morris, the colt recorded his first success at Carlisle, where the going was good to firm. The ground was also firm at Bath, where Liber demonstrated a wonderful show in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Novice Stakes
at the end of last month.
The Redmyre Bloodstock Ltd-bred has an amazing record on hard ground and with favourable conditions at Musselburgh, he has the best chance of seizing the top rank.
Out of others, Cosmic Chatter is the most powerful runner. David Barron’s trainee made his debut on a winning note, when notching up the first place by half a length in the E B F Piper Heidsieck Champagne Maiden Stakes at Haydock.
Ridden by Graham Gibbons, the 9-1 chance crushed the 2-1 joint favourites, Ian's Dream and Dansili Dual, to make a huge impact. After such a fascinating debut, the son of Paris House completely lost his direction. He was way behind Liber in the Windsor Castle
Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
Since he got weakened inside the final furlong, he could only lock the 11th place in the class 1 meeting, which saw Liber ending up seventh on the chart. Stepping down to the lower grade is an advantage for Cosmic Chatter, but an embarrassing
defeat would have dented his confidence to some extent.
Liber looks to be the safest option for those interested in staking their money today. According to our calculations, he will not face much trouble on Musselburgh’s hard track. Good luck to all the runners.
