Liber Nauticus lands successful in Tattersalls Musidora Stakes
Liber Nauticus delivered a terrific result for her team in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes (Group 3) at York in England on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. She was given the best odds for victory and proved to be the dominant of all in the end, winning by a comfortable
margin of one and a half length.
There were some decent runners up against her in the class-1 encounter, so the bookies had expected a close battle. However, the punters were fully confident that Liber Nauticus was going to succeed, so they gambled the maximum number of bets in her favour,
which proved to be the right move.
The Irish filly didn’t get off to a positive start, as she was help up by some of the slower runners once the traps were opened. Despite that, she managed to handle pressure well, which proves that she has got quite strong nerves. Once she got into rhythm,
she started gaining places and no one managed to come closer to her in the end.
Her jockey Ryan Moore stated, “She doesn't do a lot, she gives you what you ask for and I was very happy with the performance.”
This was just the second time, when the three-year-old filly went out to race and she proved to be dominant yet again. She was victorious in her debut event too, which clearly shows that she has the potential to take on some of the best in the business.
However, she will have to stay focussed in order to continue winning races with consistency.
On the other hand, her opponent Romantic Settings would have been disappointed with the outcome of the race, as she too was unable to get off to a strong start, which cost her chance of fighting for a victory.
Despite that, her trainer Richard Fahey was not disappointed at all and stated, “She's a nice filly who is improving but I don't think we'll be supplementing her for Epsom. We didn't know how good the winner was going to be so we rode a race to run well
and it was a good run. We're delighted to get some black-type and with the winner having only her second run we'd like to see her win the Oaks.”
