Liberals, what are your thoughts on self-defense against would-be thieves?

Homeowners have the right to take action but shouldn't be allowed to use deadly force unless their own life is threatened.

Well, I always considered myself something of a liberal, and I can't see anything which prevents a person from using whatever amount of force is reasonably necessary to protect oneself.  I can't imagine anybody in the world, liberal or not, who could honestly say that a person should not be allowed the means and the right to defend themselves against an upraised knife.

for the self-defense part its okay as long as you think your life is in danger

You may be shocked but there's a large portion of "liberals" that have no problems with guns.

If anyone breaks into my home, I have no problem shooting them, stabbing them or grabbing whatever I can to protect myself until the cops arrive.

I like my stuff, however it isn't worth risking my safety  for.
