Libertarian set to take part in Investec Derby – Horseracing News
Libertarian is getting ready to take part in the Investec Derby, which is scheduled to take place at Epsom in England on Saturday, June 1, 2013. There are some other exciting stallions lined up for action in
the all important event, which will definitely get the attention of the spectators.
The three-year-old colt will not find things too easy in the class-1 encounter, as there will be some high quality runners up against him in the race. Therefore, he has not been given a very good general starting
price at the moment.
However, he knows how to handle pressure at the highest level and has proved his critics wrong in the past too.
In his most recent race, the Elaine Burke’s trainee was priced 33 to 1 and no one would have expected him to be fighting for the top three positions before the start of the event. Despite that, he displayed extremely
good form and finished on top of the table by more than one length, which was quite an impressive result overall.
Overall, this was the third race of Libertarian’s career and he has been successful on a couple of occasions already, which proves that he is quite a consistent performer and does not like settling for the second
best. Therefore, he has been training hard in order to stay fit for the Investec Derby and it will be interesting to see how he goes against some of the better runners.
According to Elaine’s husband Karl Burke, “We can just float him (Libertarian) into the Derby from here and he'll do a few canters and maybe have one little blow next Tuesday. If he’s fit and well we’ll go for
the Derby and it’s great to have these exciting times.”
On the other hand, Battle Of Marengo will get the attention of the punters because of his terrific record in the sport. He had debuted last year and has managed to maintain a terrific strike rate, winning five
of his six races.
The only time when he failed to finish on top of the table was on debut, when he had to settle for the third spot.
