Libranno likely to win John Sunley Memorial Criterion Stakes
Libranno is tipped to prevail in the John Sunley Memorial Criterion Stakes (Group 3) at Newmarket in England on Saturday, June 30, 2012. The class-1 winner will walk away with a cash prize of £31,191.
There will be eight runners up against each other in the 7 furlong race, which will start at 15:35 GMT, and the going will be good to firm. This will definitely suit the running style of Libranno, who is in pretty decent form right now.
The four-year-old colt is considered to be one of the top contenders for victory by the bookies as well. He has been given a general starting price of 7 to 2, which clearly shows that he is expected to fight for victory.
Librettist’ son made his debut in the sport in 2010 and was extremely successful at the start of his career. He entered his first race with a starting price of 25 to 1, but caused and upset, winning by a neck distance. No one would have expected such a strong show from him, but he gave his absolute best to finish at the top.
This result helped the Richard Hannon’s trainee to get better odds for his next outing, but he was still not rated as the favourite to win. However, he caused another upset, winning by three quarters this time around.
A couple of back to back victories helped him gain the confidence of the bookmakers and he was declared as the favourite to complete a hat-trick at the start of his career. He did not disappoint his fans and produced another spectacular result for his owners, Mcdowell Racing.
However, the young colt was unable to continue his dominance in the future events and he had a few ups and downs in his career. He struggled in a couple of races at the start of the 2012 season as well, but finally bounced back to form, by delivering a winning run in his most recent outing. Although he managed to win by just a neck distance, he will be full of confidence right now.
Richard Hughes will be the one partnering Libranno in the race today. The seasoned jockey has got a terrific record and has been performing brilliantly in recent times.
