Libranno looking for an upset in Betfred Hungerford Stakes (Group 2)
Libranno will look to continue his solid form in the Betfred Hungerford Stakes (Group 2) at Newbury in England on Saturday, August 18, 2012. He will have to outperform nine other quality runners in order to bag a cash prize of £51,039 in the class-1 event,
thus things will not be easy for him in the end.
Looking at the performances of all participants, it is very much clear that the competition will be a close one. Some top quality runners and jockeys have been attracted towards the 7 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 15:05 GMT. Furthermore,
the going will be good, which indicates that the weather has been dry over the past couple of days.
The bookmakers have given the best odd for victory to Strong Suit, who will be partnered by Ryan Moore. Although, the pair seems to be extremely competitive, yet the punters might risk money on someone else.
One of the reasons for that is that Strong Suit has been unable to make a solid impression in the ongoing season. He has got a decent record and has the speed to dominate proceedings, but lacks confidence at the moment.
Other than the race favourite, Soul and Pastoral Player have also managed to get the attention of the bookies, but they might be surprised by Libranno at the end of the day, as he is carrying a good momentum right now.
The latter of the above three runners has been given a general starting price of 7 to 1 by the bookies, which is a clear indication that they expect him to be fighting for victory. It will be a good idea for the bettors to risk some money in his favour.
The four-year-old colt has participated in a total of 21 events, winning seven of them. Moreover, he has finished as a runner up on a couple of times whereas secured the third spot on the same number of times.
In 2012, the Richard Hannon’s trainee started off on a low note, but his performances have become quite positive recently. He ended up second last time around and won a couple of races prior to that, thus he will be full of confidence under seasoned jockey,
Jimmy Fortune.
