Libranno reaching out for a straight second graded success through the Dubai Challenge Stakes
In the line-up of eleven three-year-old and above for the Group 2 Dubai Challenge Stakes, a few names take the lime light, Libranno, Sunday Times and the remarkable improving form from the stables of trainer, Saeed Bin Suroor, Scarf. Despite the seven furlong’s race being the first graded experience for Scarf, he has picked up the same odds as two time graded race winner in 2012, Libranno.
Newmarket will host the race on Saturday, 13th October.
The Richard Hannon trained has been active seven times during the new season, six graded races and a listed race.
After two failures at the dawn of the new season, the four-year-old bay colt, Libranno, came out successful from the Bathwick Tyres Cathedral Stakes (Listed Race) on 17th June, 2012 at Salisbury race course over six furlongs.
The ride and his stable jockey, Richard Hughes, took off from the fifth stall, and tried killing the distance that loomed between them and the leaders. The duo achieved the desired result by the final furlong of the race, and defeated the favourite entry, Our Jonathan, by a neck’s mark.
Librettist’s bay colt’s good luck flourished in the Group 3 John Sunley Memorial Criterion Stakes on 30th June, 2012 at Newmarket over seven furlongs.
The four-year-old bay colt picked up pace with the final two furlongs still to be thundered upon. He did have to put up with contention in the final furlong as the closing in rival, Edinburgh Knight, permitted the winner the margin of just half-length.
This time too, the O McDowell bred shared the glory of success with the rider, Richard Hughes.
The lack of conviction spiraled in the following two races, the first ending as the runner-up score, and the second deteriorating to the ninth position.
Rolling back into form, the four-year-old captured the Group 2 OLBG Park Stakes on 15th September, 2012 at Doncaster over seven furlongs. The team with the stable jockey had switched places with, Kieren Fallon.
Libranno gained prominence right at the beginning of the race, but the supremacy was short lived as the runner-up, Pastoral Player, could not be beaten by any massive margin.
The stable jockey gets back into the saddle, and the team will take off from the first gate.
