Licence renewal?

Question

Am i suppose to renew my licence on my 21st birthday even though it has an expiration date for next year? my id now says under 21 licence and i wont be under 21 anymore. am i suppose to get it now even though its not due

you can renew it early in most places.

However, you don't need to.  your birthday is printed on the license, and that is what they will go by.  most of them say 'under 21 until (enter your bday here)'

its valid until the expiration date listed on the card.

You can get it renewed before the date (I'm pretty sure) but your "under 21" license is still good to buy alcohol with because they'll check your Date of Birth. You'll have to wait for them to look every time which may get annoying but you don't NEED to renew it to buy alcohol
