You know how every year on your birthday you have to get new tags for your car, and usually it costs somewhere from 50-60 dollars? Well, what if you only have to get tags for 6 months does it still cost full price, or is it cheaper? For example I have to get tags for my car now in july, but my birthday is in december and i will have to get new tags again then, so will it still cost the full 50-60 dollars or will it be cheaper? And i live in the state of OHIO if that helps.

  1. it's different here in texas but that sounds pretty ridiculous

  2. I don't think you've given enough info. If your renewal comes up every birthday, why didn't you renew in December?

I looked through the Ohio DMV web site, and there doesn't seem to be any mention of everyone's registration expiring on their birthday.

It does say that you have to renew your registration every 12 months, even if it doesn't run or you're not using it for that year and it's off the streets. You can call (866) 675-2837 to renew your registration by phone using an automated system.

You can find a lot of info here: http://www.dmv.org/oh-ohio/department-mo...

  3. I live in Colorado.  I buy new tags once a year and its usually under $50.  I think they base the price on either the value or the purchase of your car.  I can't say for sure because I don't live in Ohio but I don't think your birthday has anything to do with it.  A year from the day I bought my car I will usually get a bill in the mail for new tags.  As far as I know there is no such thing as a 6 month tag, but I could be wrong.
